As a mom of two amazing girls, ages 2 and 8, and with a background in healthcare and first aid, I have a passion for teaching children.

 

As my eldest daughter started to become more independent and takes on more responsibility for her younger sister, I realized that providing her with basic safety knowledge and First Aid skills in a fun and engaging way would be an excellent way to empower her and for her to gain a sense of responsibility.

 

After researching many courses, I found that most were geared toward adults and were not relevant to the South African context. So, I decided to create my own program based on a First Aid content framework from the UK, called Junior Medics. I tailored the program to South African circumstances and situations in order to resonate effectively with South African children. Then I enhanced it with fun elements, engaging media, and interactive games to assist in the retention of information.

 

I just love what I do! Seeing the excitement and enthusiasm in the kids as they learn something that empowers them to be able to help, even though they are still young is truly priceless to me!

We laugh a lot too and I complete every class with a very fulfilled and happy heart knowing that I have shared some knowledge that could very possibly save lives.
